The vintage shop

It was the third and the last day of their short family trip to the only hill station of their state. This was the second time when they were visiting this place her parents think Darjeeling is the calmest place they had ever been to and she thinks its all bullshit because she couldn’t access internet and connect to her friends for its all time cloudy weather.

Getting tired of her parents company Pritilata decided to sit on the benches of the mall road and watch the children playing around with the street poodles and some with bubbles n balloons. The dusk started wrapping the mall market with its darkness and the lights of the shops turned on one by one... When a guy came out of the Kashmiri vintage shop in a brown jacket and denim blue jeans, for the first time the 14 year old girl felt some chemical reactions going on in her whole body and head Goosebumps started forming inside her pullover.

Her eyes denied to blink suddenly her body stopped shivering and the skin temperature of her ears increased on and on and on… But she had no clue of the things that were happening for the very first time in her life. The very next day they left Darjeeling till the last milestone of the town she cried silently and made a promise to salvage her first crush and after that incident 8 years had passed. Many guys came into her life with her growing age but no one seemed to be a fresh choice always she wanted her love interest to be like that Darjeeling boy whose name is even unknown to her.

She turned into a grown up lady now and independent enough to plan a trip of her own and for sure she chose Darjeeling to unfold all the mysteries that she left unsolved for all these years. After checking in her hotel room leaving the luggage back she rushed towards the vintage shop hoping it will turn into the luckiest day of her life... Entering in the shop she found a frumpy lady wearing hijab “how can I help you” she asked in her Kashmiri accent. “I want some silver earrings” she fumbled while faking and continuously her eyes were looking around when suddenly a kid came towards the sales girl blabbering “mau ji mau ji”. Trying to get friendly with them “Awww kiddo” Pritilata said holding the little fingers of the kid. “He is your child?” she asked the sales girl. “No our” she said raising her eyebrows and pointing towards her husband and Pritilata’s first crush. The world seemed much murkier her lucky day turned into doomsday to her and at that very moment she left the shop to hide her tears and all the mysteries remain unsolved for rest of her life.
